Government-leaning nonprofit organisations gained more state subsidies than the ones which are most respected in their profession with their work, competence and sometimes criticism. National Cooperation Fund, a new and Fidesz-ruled institution is in charge now of considering state support for nonprofit organisations. National Cooperation Fund is chaired by László Csizmadia, who regularly organises pro-government mass demonstrations. A hardly browseable search engine also helps the non-transparent decision making on the grantmaking body’s website. Despite all of the difficulties, we published the full list of the 2012 grantees, and our research has found that government-leaning nonprofits, some of them founded or led by governing party MPs were clearly favored.
