Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban and Russian President Vladimir Putin signed an agreement on the expansion of the Paks Nuclear Power Plant on 14 January 2014. Media reports have been focusing on several parts of the agreement that have not been disclosed yet to the public. Atlatszo.hu collected the main concerns with the agreement that need further clarification: as Russia will provide a loan for the expansion, questions remain what has the Hungarian government agreed to comply with in exchange; the feasibility reports and expert opinions on the expansion have not been published yet; in addition to this, the agreement was signed by the government without the Hungarian national assembly’s approval.
